It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of our ex-President Bill Tilling.
Bill was a lovely man and with his wife Beti was a great supporter of the cricket club.Their son Bob, of course was a great servant of the club, being the only player to take 1000 wickets in his career.
Bill and Beti were frequent supporters on our Cornwall tours and were always to be seen at St Austell when their holidays coincided with our visits there.
After our previous President Les Boldero passed away Bill took over with great gusto. He applied his administration skills, gained in his career at the local authority, and combined them to his persuasive nature to engender financial support for the club from local businesses. Much to the advantage of local sport.
He and Beti were always to be seen at the pavilion, usually sharing a bottle of wine with the tea ladies and encouraging the side with great
humour.
After Beti passed away he continued his support but had lost a great friend and took a back seat.
He and Beti will be greatly missed and our condolences go to Bob and Jen and their family.
