Nat West Cricket Force 2007

Llantwit Fardre Cricket Club took part in NatWest CricketForce event on 31st March and 1st April, which is expected to be the largest volunteer event in sport, aimed at rejuvenating local cricket clubs across the country.

The Club made an appeal for members of the local community to give a few hours of their time over the weekend to join Club members and players to inject some life back into the Club in preparation for the forthcoming season.  NatWest member of staff, Paul Castellini who is a player at the Club will be swapping his uniform to help out with some painting and decorating.  Thanks to the generosity of the local community the club will benefit from the estimated £2,000 makeover, which will include decorating the pavilion, updating the Club's captains' board, improving the players' balcony and equipment shed."

Llantwit Fardre has 2 senior teams, playing in the First Division of the Wales Club Cricket Conference. It also has Boys' U15, U13 and U11 teams, and a Girls' team. So as many as 50 young cricketers get coached and play at the Club each summer.

Club captain Gareth Jones said: "It is great having well-known players such as Gareth Wyatt, Geraint Lewis and Ceri Sweeney playing for us. Just as importantly though is the grass roots work that is being done with the youngsters. This, and the input we are getting this year through NatWest CrcicketForce, will hold us in good stead for our Centenary season in 2008 and beyond." Simply by registering to take part, Llantwit Fardre Cricket Club has already received a NatWest CricketForce pack worth over £100.
