Llantwit Fardre managed a closely fought win with
the first eleven at Abercynon but lost again with the second eleven at
home.
At Abercynon Llantwit batted first and after
a slow start put up an excellent total of 233-1. Led by Gareth Wyatt
(104 no) and Geraint Lewis (67) and backed up by Ceri Sweeney (53 no)
there was some superb batting and all the Abercynon bowlers felt the
heat. Ryan Lowe was the only bowler to take a wicket when he had Geraint
stumpted but by then Llantwit were well on their way to a
substantial total.
Abercynon batted and got well behind the run rate
with Jordan Sieniawski (1-27) , Chris Garwood (1-37) and Huw Thomas
(3-52) being the pick of the bowlers. However Abercynon did not give up
and picked up the rate when Rob Savage (62) joined Ryan Lowe (42) and
pushed the total within range. Both were out going for victory Ryan
bowled by Geraint Lewis and Rob superbly caught on the boundary by
Gareth Wyatt. Llantwit Fardre scrapped home by 6 runs.
The second eleven were on top at home reducing
Abercynon to 32-8 but the away side recovered to 102 all out. Marcus
Caudle (4-14), Callum Garwood (3-17) and Steve John (2-28) were the
successful bowlers. However Llantwit could only total 82 all out and
defeat by 20 runs. None of the batsmen imposed themselves on the innings
